Taking a break from the manuscript slog to post. Somehow over the past couple of days I’ve managed to finally get little thumbnail sketches of a few of the locations for Faradris, and since I’ve told myself to relax and just draw what needs to be drawn and not the entire city, it’s been surprisingly manageable. Not that I don’t angst and shilly-shally before each and every map, but I make an effort to tell myself, “No, you don’t need a town; you need a village green, a house and a justice hall,” or “You don’t need to know where every broom is standing and every book is laying; just figure out where the chairs and fireplace are.” It’s going better than I’d hoped. I have seven locations to sketch now, and only two of those need to be large and detailed.

Breaking down a large project into smaller pieces is a difficult thing to do, in just about any endeavor. Good luck with the illustrations!
That’s a hard thing you’re doing, because I too like to know all the details about everything… I think you’re on the right track though, I’m excited to hear of your progress! Hoping to get some notework done this afternoon while I wait.
Thanks guys!
Danielle: That’s a good idea. Better than spending that time stewing. Hope you get some great stuff. :)
